We aim to explore decomposition as a tool for achieving circularity.

Notgroundbreaking is a London based biodesign studio, harnessing decomposition as a tool for more sustainable and circular design.

Merging research, design & environmentalism, the aim is to reestablish the lost connections between the designed and the grown, blurring the lines between the obsolete and the vital.

Building upon the co-founders previous Master’s work, Unmaking, Notgroundbreaking presently focuses on the realm of textile waste. The studio first launched the Decomposition Library, which chronicles the decay of diverse textiles. Since then it has begun work on Grown from Textile Waste, which envisions a scalable system that can tackle textile waste through the delicate process of decomposition.
